The Centre for Ecology, Environment and Conservation provides a central focus for the expertise we have in ecology, environment and conservation, as well as molecular and developmental biology which feed into these disciplines, together with expertise in environmental policy and the interface between development and biodiversity. These areas are strengthened by our links with the independent Pond Conservation (external partner) and the Environment Information Exchange (self-funding consultancy). The Centre provides a focus with which staff, undergraduates, postgraduates and external sponsors and stakeholders can identify.
The objectives of Centre for Ecology, Environment and Conservation are to:
- Undertake first class research to address issues surrounding environmental change, quality of life, biodiversity, ecosystem services and food security and to work in partnership to integrate this research into practical solutions.
- Provide high quality courses for practitioners, decision makers and the future generations.
- Develop a consultancy service with a focus on conservation and biodiversity
